|How it Works
The Single Stage Equipment (SSE) profile controls simple HVAC equipment such as unit heaters and split ACs.
Each SSE module works independently of the main CCU like a simple thermostat. When the CCU is only being used as an aggregation point, the CCU system profile might be set to default and it is not connected to any HVAC equipment. It is also quite probable that the CCU is used in a mixed scenario, so CCU is doing some DAB/VAV/OAO. Therefore, it is possible that the CCU could be in heating mode but the SSE module is connected to a split AC that is cooling a room (like a server room in winter).
Each SSE is usually in heating/cooling mode only based on the equipment selection.
Multiple SSE modules can be paired to a single zone and they can share a common zone and building, schedule, they are also effected by the zone and system level vacation that are set.
Each SSE module can be in setback either due to vacation or daily unoccupied. When the module is controlling heating only equipment, then the setback temperature will be lower than the desired temperature as determined by heating setback tuner. If the module is controlling cooling-only equipment, then the setback temperature will be higher than desired temperature as determined by cooling setback tuner. There is no concept of building limit breach since it is only controlling a single room. There is no zone priority assigned as SSE operation does not affect any HVAC equipment connected to the CCU.
Below is an example wiring for a SSE module.
Wiring
Connectivity
- Relay-1 - options Heating/Cooling
- Relay-2 - Fan
- Thermistor-1 is supply air temperature monitoring
- Thermistor-2 is used for external temperature sensing
Configuration
After you have paired the SSE module, you must configure it.
You can configure SSE modules from CCU but can reconfigure the values from the internal portal. Configuring the values from CCU is referred to as terminal profile configuration while reconfiguring the values from the internal portal is referred to as remote profile configuration.
To configure SSE module:
- Click the SSE module that you have paired.
The SSE page is displayed.
2. Select the parameters you want to set.
3. Click Set.
The values are saved as below
Notes:
- SSE works with or without a system profile.
- SSE does not support multi module. Only one module can be paired at any time.
- If you edit the values from the internal portal, the changes will reflect on CCU but changes made on CCU takes precedence over the values set in the internal portal.
