| Overview
Lead Lag chiller is one of the ways the central plant operates. It is used in applications where the cooling from only one chiller is insufficient to meet the required building load.
To support such huge cooling loads, in this operation more than one to more than a few chillers are used. The chillers are placed parallel to each other but operate in series. This means the output of one of the chillers is used as the input to the next chiller.
| Connections
To favor this type of operation the CPM application now can connect the chilled water leaving the pipe sub-equip of one chiller to the chilled water entering the pipe sub-equip of another chiller through a connector pipe.
| Plant Building
To achieve the connections mentioned above, favor such an operation and build a plant as such.
From the Central plant plant builder screen
- Drag and drop the required equipment to the builder canvas.
- Use Shift+Click and drag the equips to the required position.
- Extend the node of the chilled Entering pipe to connect to one end of the chilled water supply header pipe and connect the other end of the chilled water supply header pipe to the chilled water supply pipe of the building load.
- Extend the node of chilled water leaving the pipe of the building load to connect to one end of the chilled water return header pipe, and connect the other end to the chilled water return header pipe to the chilled water return pipe of the last chiller in the series.
- Connect the chilled water supply pipe of the last chiller in the series, to the chilled water return pipe of the chiller before it.
- Similarly, connect the chilled water supply pipes of other chillers in the series, to the chilled water return pipe of the chillers before it.
- Connect the Condenser water supply pipes of the first chiller in the series, to one end of the condenser water supply header pipe, and connect the other condenser water supply header pipe to the condenser water supply pipe of the cooling tower.

- Connect the condenser water return pipe of the cooling tower to one end of the condenser water return header pipe, and connect the other end of the condenser water return header to the condenser return pipe of the last chiller in the series.
- Connect all the condenser water return pipes of the chillers in the series, to one end of the condenser water return header pipe, or vice versa to complete all the connections.
- Connect all the condenser water supply pipes of the chillers in the series, to one end of the condenser water supply header pipe, or vice versa to complete all the connections.
- Save and publish the plant to visualize the same in the My Plant tab as below.
- Publish the plant in a PDF or PNG format to visualize the plant as below.
