| Overview

In this mode, users can independently adjust the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) and Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) while maintaining the minimum required deadband.

Constraint:

CDT - HDT Heating Deadband (HDB) + Cooling Deadband (CDB)

 

| Configuration 

To configure the Dual Setpoint Variable Deadband temperature mode, complete the following steps:

  • Navigate to the desired Zones page and click the pencil icon next to Zone Schedule. If Zone Schedule is not displayed, click the Schedule dropdown and select Zone Schedule.
  • The Zone Schedule page opens.
    Note: By default, the temperature mode appears as Dual Setpoint Fixed Deadband.
  • Click the dropdown and select Dual Setpoint Variable Deadband.
  • Click Save Schedule to save the Dual Setpoint Variable Deadband temperature mode. Then, click the pencil icon to reopen the Zone Schedule page.
     
    Note: For CCU temperature mode changes, click Save Schedule after each change to save and apply the selected temperature mode.
  • Select the desired day category from the available schedule options (Everyday, Weekday + Weekend, Weekday + Saturday + Sunday, or 7 Day) to configure the temperature mode schedule.
  • Click the desired day to update the temperature mode schedule.
  • Scroll down to view the complete Dual Setpoint Variable Deadband user interface.

 

| Temperature Settings

Condition 1:

Follow building's user limits and deadbands

Enabled

  • The Heating User Limits and Cooling User Limits are automatically set based on the predefined building limits and cannot be modified.
  • Users can adjust the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) or Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) while maintaining the configured deadband. Refer to the formula below.
     

    Constraint:

    CDT - HDT Heating Deadband (HDB) + Cooling Deadband (CDB)

Example 1:

Note: When Follow Building's User Limits and Deadbands is enabled, the heating and cooling deadbands are inherited from the building-level configuration and cannot be modified.

Initial state:

Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) = 70°F
Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) = 74°F
Deadband = 4°F

 

 

User Increases CDT to 77°F.

 

Result:

HDT = 70°F
CDT = 77°F
Deadband = 4°F

Users can independently adjust the HDT or CDT within the configured user limits by following the formula below.

CDT - HDT ≥ Heating Deadband (HDB) + Cooling Deadband (CDB)

  • Click Update to save the desired temperature settings, and then click Save Schedule to save and apply the updated temperature mode.

    Note: Users can modify the temperature mode duration by updating the start and end times.

  • Click Update to save the desired temperature settings, and then click Save Schedule to save and apply the updated temperature mode.

Example 3:

Note: Example 3 demonstrates two different scenarios.

Scenario 1:

User decreases the Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) from 77°F to 72°F.

The Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) 67°F remains unchanged, as the minimum required deadband of 4°F is maintained.

Result:

HDT = 67°F
CDT = 72°F
Deadband = 4°F

Users can independently adjust the HDT or CDT within the configured user limits by following the formula below.

CDT - HDT Heating Deadband (HDB) + Cooling Deadband (CDB)

 

Scenario 2:

User increases the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) from 67°F to 70°F.

The Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) automatically adjusts from 72°F to 74°F to maintain the minimum required deadband of 4°F.

Result:

HDT = 70°F
CDT = 74°F
Deadband = 4°F

Users can independently adjust the HDT or CDT within the configured user limits by following the formula below.

CDT - HDT ≥ Heating DB + Cooling DB

  • Click Update to save the desired temperature settings, and then click Save Schedule to save and apply the updated temperature mode.

    Note: Users can modify the temperature mode duration by updating the start and end times.

Condition 2:

Follow building's user limits and deadbands

Disabled

  • The Heating User Limits and Cooling User Limits are prefilled with the building-level limits and can be modified as needed. Refer to the example below.

  • Adjusting one setpoint does not automatically update the other setpoint. The system allows the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) and Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) to be adjusted independently, provided that the minimum required deadband is maintained.

Note: The heating and cooling deadband can be configured within a range of 0.5°F to 10°F.

Users can update the Heating and Cooling Desired Temperature as needed while maintaining a fixed deadband.
User decreases the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) from 70°F to 65°F. The Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) remains unchanged at 90.5°F. 
Note: In Dual Setpoint Variable Deadband mode, heating and cooling setpoints can be adjusted independently while maintaining the minimum required deadband.

Users can update the Heating and Cooling Desired Temperature as needed while maintaining a fixed deadband.
User increases the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) from 65°F to 90°F.

The Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT) automatically adjusts from 90.5°F to 94°F to maintain the minimum required deadband of 4°F.

Example 3

When the Heating User Limits or Cooling User Limits are modified, an extended setpoint range is displayed next to the corresponding desired temperature setpoint
 

This range indicates the allowable adjustment limits for the Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) or Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT).
