| Overview

The Setpoint Offset temperature mode allows users to adjust comfort using an offset value instead of directly modifying the heating and cooling setpoints. The system automatically calculates the desired heating and cooling setpoints based on the configured offset while maintaining the applicable temperature limits and deadband requirements.

An offset value of 0 represents the baseline comfort setting. Increasing or decreasing the offset shifts the effective temperature target warmer or cooler, and the system automatically recalculates the corresponding heating and cooling setpoints. This provides a simplified user experience while preserving the system's configured control parameters.

Note: Setpoint Offset is displayed and can be adjusted only from Edge devices and the Occupant App. In the Facility Portal, Facility App, and Support Portal, users continue to view the corresponding Desired Heating and Desired Cooling setpoints.

 

| Configuration 

To configure the Setpoint Offset temperature mode, complete the following steps:

  • Navigate to the desired Zones page and click the pencil icon next to Zone Schedule. If Zone Schedule is not displayed, click the Schedule dropdown and select Zone Schedule.

  • The Zone Schedule page opens.
    Note: By default, the temperature mode appears as Dual Setpoint Fixed Deadband after migration. 

  • Click the dropdown and select Setpoint Offset.

  • Click Save Schedule to save the Setpoint Offset temperature mode. Then, click the pencil icon to reopen the Zone Schedule page.
     
    Note: For CCU temperature mode changes, click Save Schedule after each change to save and apply the selected temperature mode.

  • Select the desired day category from the available schedule options (Everyday, Weekday + Weekend, Weekday + Saturday + Sunday, or 7 Day) to configure the temperature mode schedule.

  • Click the desired day to update the temperature mode schedule.

  • Scroll down to view the complete Setpoint Offset user interface.

 

| CCU Setpoint Offset Temperature Settings (Condition 1)

Follow building's user limits and deadbands

Enabled

  • The Heating User Limits and Cooling User Limits are automatically set based on the predefined building limits and cannot be modified.

  • The Setpoint Offset value cannot be adjusted from the CCU. It can only be modified from supported edge devices and the Occupant App. The Setpoint Offset is calculated using the formula below and is represented as 0 at the baseline setpoint.
  1.  Setpoint Offset = Heating Desired Temperature + Heating Deadband
  2.  Setpoint Offset = Cooling Desired Temperature - Cooling Deadband

  •  When Follow Building's User Limits and Deadbands is enabled, the heating and cooling deadbands are inherited from the building-level configuration and cannot be modified.

  • Click Update to save the desired temperature settings, and then click Save Schedule to save and apply the updated temperature mode.
    Note: Users can modify the temperature mode duration by updating the start and end times.

  • The CCU displays the current temperature along with the updated Heating Desired Temperature (HDT) and Cooling Desired Temperature (CDT).

 

| Visual Representation in Occupant App (Condition 1)

The Comfort Dial provides a visual representation of the current comfort preference.

  • The indicator is positioned at the top-center of the dial.
  • Represents the default building comfort setting.
  • No temperature offset is applied (Offset = 0).
  • Moving the indicator toward Cooler applies a negative offset, while moving it toward Warmer applies a positive offset.

Example: In the image below, the comfort value is set to 0 (Neutral), indicating that no temperature offset has been applied and the zone is operating at the default comfort setting.

Note: Users can increase or decrease the Setpoint Offset value within the configured Setpoint Offset range.

Setpoint Offset Range Calculation:

The Setpoint Offset range can be calculated using the formula below.

Note: The allowable Setpoint Offset range is determined by the configured user limits and deadband settings. Changes to the user limits or deadband automatically update the available Setpoint Offset range.

Slightly Warmer (+1)

  • The indicator moves into the red section of the comfort dial.
  • Requests a small increase in room temperature.
  • Applies a positive temperature offset from the baseline comfort setting.

Warmer (+2)

  • The indicator reaches the far end of the red arc.
  • Represents the maximum warmer preference permitted.
  • Applies the maximum positive temperature offset allowed by the system

Slightly Cooler (-1)

  • The indicator moves into the blue section of the comfort dial.
  • Requests a small decrease in room temperature.
  • Applies a negative temperature offset from the baseline comfort setting.

Cooler (-2)

  • The indicator reaches the far end of the blue arc.
  • Represents the maximum cooler preference permitted.
  • Applies the maximum negative temperature offset allowed by the system.

| CCU Setpoint Offset Temperature Settings (Condition 2)

Follow building's user limits and deadbands

Disabled

  • The Heating User Limits and Cooling User Limits are prepopulated with the most recently saved user limits. Modify the limits as needed. Refer to the example below.
  • The heating and cooling deadband can be configured within a range of 0.5°F to 10°F.

  • Click Update to save the desired temperature settings, and then click Save Schedule to save and apply the updated temperature mode.

Note: Users can adjust the Setpoint Offset value by moving the comfort dial indicator. Moving the indicator toward Cooler decreases the temperature preference, while moving it toward Warmer increases the temperature preference.

Note: Changes to the Setpoint Offset value in the Occupant App are automatically reflected across all supported edge devices, the CCU, and portals.
