| Overview
The Community Engagement feature is designed to enhance user engagement, improve quality, and grow a sustainable contributor ecosystem. It achieves this by combining social interaction, gamified recognition, and structured feedback mechanisms that empower both creators and consumers.
The Activity Feed & Leader Board serves as the central hub for discovery, interaction, and engagement across the platform. It aggregates community-driven widgets, highlights active contributors, and provides entry points into feedback and collaboration workflows.
Primary Goals:
- Increase high-quality widget creation.
- Encourage consistent contributor participation.
- Enable meaningful community interactions.
- Provide transparent recognition and growth paths for contributors.
- Establish feedback loops to enhance widget quality continually.
| What's Changed or Enhanced
With the community engagement introduction, we have introduced a few changes to a few parts of the portals.
Lets us deep dive into the changes & enhancements in the following sections.
| User Profile Enhancements
With the enhancements in the community engagement, we now have an option to upload a picture of the user during the user creation, along with the other details.
Users can add a picture or an avatar as shown below.
The added avatar displays in the profile information as shown below.
For the user without an avatar, the initials of the first and last names reflect as shown below.
A user profile with an avatar added reflects as follows.
Note: The above change applies to all types of users in the portal.
| Commenting Capability on Contributions
As a part of the enhancement, a comment icon is added, as in all common framework tools, alongside the like and bookmark.
Users can use this option to comment or provide feedback on the contributions to the community.
The commenting and feedback capability is also made available in other places
On the view & edit part of the builders as well, as shown below.
On the applied tool, as shown below.
On the contributions details from the Leaderboard as shown below.
Note: The comment can be a message (1000 characters permitted per comment), or an attachment (5MB permitted)
| Addressing/Mentioning Users in the Comments Chain
This feature enhances the Comments component by allowing users to mention other users while adding comments. As the user types a mention using @, a list of available users is displayed based on the context of the parent component.
The selected user can then be included in the comment, making it easier to notify and collaborate with specific users directly within the conversation.
Key capability:
- Type @ in the comment field to open the user mention list.
- Display users relevant to the parent component.
- Select a user from the list to add them to the comment.
- Support user mentions consistently across Ideas, D&I Page, User Info Modal, and Heatmap Filters.
| Comments Search Functionality
This feature enhances the Comments component, allowing users to search for specific text or user mentions within comments. When a search term is entered, matching occurrences are highlighted, and the interface displays the current match and total number of matches.
This makes it easier for users to quickly locate specific comments, mentions, or information within lengthy comments.
This functionality is available across all common pools in Portals and the Facilisight App to provide an intuitive search experience.

The Community Approved (Verified) Badge is a new trust indicator introduced within the ecosystem to help users quickly identify tools that have been reviewed, validated, and approved for use. This badge provides greater transparency and confidence by clearly distinguishing verified tools from the broader tool catalog.
As part of the rollout, commonly used framework tools will be evaluated, shortlisted, and validated. Approved tools will display the Verified badge, making it easier for users to identify trusted and reliable integrations.
